Homebrew Demisphinx Species Details

The powerful Sphinxes of old are not so often seen, but their offspring with mortals are sometimes found within Zakhara. Demisphinx are a rare mix, mortals who carry the blood of the noble Sphinx, immortal magical beasts known to serve the Gods. They have a humanoid form with animalistic features, occasionally with under-formed wings, a lion's tail and/or ears, sharp teeth, and even sharp talons for feet. Depending on their immortal parent's features, their own can vary. Often, they live without knowing their immortal parent, and in parts of Zakhara, were seen as an omen, as nothing good can come from a half-baked sphinx.

They are guardians by nature, and often have strong senses of justice, but are plagued by the mortal discriminations they face for their heritage. Many hemisphinx children are castaway by their parents and disowned, leaving many to generally remain solitary from society. There have been rumours within Zakhara that deep within the desert, societies of demisphinx exist where they live in peace without the pressures of judgment from others and can carry out the duty instilled in them by their Sphinx parent.
