Homebrew war baers Species Details
Age.
War Baers mature around 40 years old and can live up to 800 years, with rare elders surviving millennia.
Alignment.
They tend toward neutral good or lawful neutral, respecting nature, strength, and order. Evil War Baers are rare and often feared.
Size.
War Baers stand 18 to 20 feet tall. You are Huge in size.
(Optional variant for play balance: You can count as Large when moving in narrow spaces or using equipment designed for smaller beings.)
Speed.
Your base walking speed is 40 feet.
You can also move on all fours, increasing your speed to 50 feet but you cannot wield weapons or shields while on all fours.
Darkvision.
Accustomed to the shadows of forests and mountains, you can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light.
Natural Weapons.
Your claws and fangs are deadly. You can make unarmed strikes that deal 2d8 slashing damage (claws) or 2d6 piercing damage (bite).
War Instincts.
You have proficiency in the Perception and Athletics skills.
Battle Reflexes.
You can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on one attack roll made against a creature within 5 feet of you (representing a swift parry or block). You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier (minimum 1), regaining all uses on a long rest.
Fearsome Presence.
As an action, you can let out a thunderous roar. All creatures of your choice within 30 feet that can hear you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or become frightened of you for 1 minute. Creatures can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Languages.
You can speak, read, and write Common and Ursan (the ancient growling tongue of the War Baers).
