Homebrew Ythiil (Moth Folk) Species Details
With their insect-like alien appearance, the Ythiil are mystifying to those that manage to find their territories. They seem moth-like in their appearance, with antennae and wings. They are, however, mammalian and merely an example of biological mimicry. Ythiil tend to be tall, standing on average between 6’5’’-7’2’’, they are willowy and graceful in build but can be unnerving to creatures who do not know them. Ythiil have four eyes—two larger eyes and two smaller that are situated just over the larger ones. These eyes are predominantly dominated by a pupil (so usually black) which means Ythiil tend to be extremely sensitive to light.Their smaller eyes do not see well. They have a fa ged mouth and all are furry (though some have thicker hair than others). Their wings appear to be entirely flightless. Ythiil have two sets of arms, and as such can be very adaptable spellcasters.
With a rigid society and an obsession with perfectionism, Ythiilian society looks down their noses at creatures of most races. They have long since been convinced they have obtained perfection as a race, but that means anything that is “imperfect” is culled quickly and quietly. The vast majority of the society is entirely unaware of the looming uprising of Ythlings and “bad” things tend to be hidden from the masses as a whole. A happy society is a perfect society. Ythiil tend to be hard to find, but they tend to have a pompous over-polite air to them. Adventuring Ythiil are usually either exiles or personally disgusted with the state of their society and have left to discover more about themselves, but many have a tendency to strive to perfection in what they do.
Legend has it that the Ythiilian race was, at first, entirely made up of scholars and philosophers. In their search for enlightenment they angered an old god and as such were cursed with a desperate desire to be the best that they could be… but also with a slothful nature—something that has stagnated for the current denizens of this race. Ythiil tend to live in parts of the Underdark that are difficult to get to, in cities that are upkept by Ythlings. Most people that have spent time with Ythiil tend to wholeheartedly agree that; “Those are some boring ********.” They tend to worship Ulo, a god of Logic, Study, Law and Order. Often the god of lawkeepers and the like, Ulo’s people can sometimes tend toward zealotry. (Lawful Neutral, Knowledge/Protection/City/Order [+Domains for their clerics usually. Colors are Gold and Black).

Comet Ythiil
Making up the majority of the main denizens of inner Ythiilian society, the Comet variation of Ythiil are bright yellow in coloration. The females tend to be larger than the males, though these concepts of gender do not prescribe to this inner culture and is only in terms of categorized sex of other species. Gender is not a concept as it flies in the face of the “sameness” that Ythiilian society deems appropriate for their species. This means that predominantly Ythiil presented with gender in adventuring tend to be confused and not understand why different clothing would mark one as one or the other.
