Homebrew Cat folk Species Details

Catfolk were shaped in the twilight of the first forests by a deity of grace and instinct. Known by many names across the multiverse—Felarion, Sah'ra, Bast—their divine patron gifted them with keen senses, agile bodies, and a deep bond with moonlight and mystery. The god made them swift and elusive, with lives that span about 80 years, though their legends often outlive them.

Slender and furred, with feline features and expressive tails, the earliest catfolk built treetop villages and hidden groves, blending seamlessly into the wilds. Their oldest songs speak of dances beneath moonlit canopies and battles fought with cunning against beasts far larger than themselves. Tales of clever escapes and daring ambushes echo through their cultures, celebrating wit over brute strength.

On many worlds, catfolk clans trace their lineage to either the dense jungles or open savannas where their ancestors first prowled. Those from the jungles often call themselves shadowstalkers, masters of stealth and silence, while those of the plains are known as sunrunners, swift and bold. The Forgotten Realms and Eberron settings host such tribes, each with their own rituals, markings, and moon-blessed traditions.
