Homebrew Clone Species Details

  • Clones are humans whose bloodlines have been tampered with by magic and selective breeding.
  • They are primarily bred for war, but also used as general labourers and household servants for wealthy families.
  • All are bred to be strong, subservient and obedient.
  • Most are from a country called Sonter, on the far western edge of the island supercontinent of Auzealtre (closest land to Skaffen in fact).
  • Almost all clones are identical to each other, although there are some lineages who appear different.
  • The majority are tan-skinned, dark-haired, dark-eyed males. It is extremely rare to see a clone over the age of 30.
  • They are grown in enormous glass tanks in special clone farms.

Clone Traits

Arcane bloodwork and selective breeding over the centuries have given Clones unique traits and abilities.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Strength and Dexterity scores by 1.

Age

Clones are bred to mature faster than humans do, reaching maturity by the age of 12. While they theoretically have the same lifespan as humans, they tend to die young, either in battle or from a disease called clonar cancer that affects clones beyond the age of 20.

Alignment

Even escaped or freed clones struggle to shake off their genetic tendency towards lawfulness.

Size

Clones appear as tall humans, usually between 6 and 7 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

As a clone, you have been bred to be able to see in poor lighting conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Clonar Resiliance

Clones have been bred to withstand injuries that would fell other races. Your hit point maximum increases by 2, and it increases by 2 every time you gain a level.

Clonar Signifier

As a clone, you have two magical, glowing tattoos around six inches long over your left scapula and left pectoral, comprising of two characters and six digits in a code that is unique to you, referred to as your Signifier. Sontish individuals might be able to discern information about you if they see your Signifier. The tattoos were magically imprinted into your flesh when you were a foetus and cannot be removed by normal means.

Many Souls, One Face

Unless you choose to be of a particularly unique lineage, you are indistinguishable from the vast majority of your clonar brethren. If your Signifier is covered and you are not dressed or behaving in a way that considerably stands out, creatures must make a Wisdom (Insight) check to identify you from another clone. The DC for this check is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your charisma modifier.

Shadows of the Progenitor

You have advantage on any saving throws you make to avoid having your form changed, such as against a hostile polymorph spell or a basilisk's petrifying gaze.

Languages

You can speak Common and Clonar Sign Language. Most soldier and labourer clones are not taught to read or write.
