Homebrew Axie Species Details

These Axolotl live in kingdoms far underneath the deepest depths of the largest lakes. Spread far and in between, some known for their adjustments to the ocean, these aquatic creatures are cursed beings whose souls are separated from their bodies. Trained in speared combat, they live under an elected monarchy and are very social and care a lot about each individual.
Axie Traits

Amphibious
You can breathe air and water, and you have a swimming speed equal to your walking speed.
Cursed Soulbond
You can cast the find familiar spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. The familiar you summon must take the form of your Axie soul. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of 1st level or higher.
Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the fog cloud spell (2nd level) with this trait, without requiring a material component. Once you cast the spell with this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have of 2nd level or higher.
Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it when you cast spells with this trait (choose when you select this race).
Emissary of the Sea
You can communicate simple ideas to any Beast, Elemental, or Monstrosity that has a swimming speed. It can understand your words, though you have no special ability to understand it in return.
Guardian of the Depths
Adapted to the frigid ocean depths, you have resistance to cold damage.
