Homebrew Chryvani Species Details
The Chryvani are owl-like humanoids, the result of genetic experiments conducted by Asterion the Unknown. Though their outward appearance resembles that of owls, their true form is far more complex and unsettling. They are a deeply sociable race, finding solace in forming emotional bonds with others. The Chryvani's outlook is influenced by their owl-like traits, but beneath this exterior lies an eldritch entity known as the All-Father, which resides inside them. This being has shaped much of their physiology and abilities. The Chryvani are renowned for their deep faith and commitment to social work, with most of their abilities linked to the blight. They possess the unique ability to sense the emotional distress of others, allowing them to offer comfort and aid in times of need.

As a Chryvani, you have these special traits.Empathetic Sense
The All-Father’s awareness flows through you, allowing you to feel the emotions of those nearby. You can sense the emotional state (such as calm, fear, anger, grief) of any creature within 30 feet of you that isn’t shielded by magic or mental protection. You gain advantage on Insight checks made to determine a creature’s emotional state.
Once per short or long rest, you can use an action to calm a creature’s distress, roll a insight check with a dc that the dm determines (Min 10 or above for minor worries)
Blessing of the All-Father
Your faith manifests subtly when you offer comfort or protection. When you help, or stabilize a creature, they gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. You can use this feature once per turn and only once per creature per short or long rest.
Revelation of Form
When emotion or danger surges, the illusion of your gentle form falters, revealing a glimpse of what dwells beneath.
As a bonus action, you can reveal your true nature for 1 minute. When you do:
- Your feathers part, revealing shifting arms beneath your flesh.
- You gain advantage on Intimidation checks and resistance to psychic damage during this time.
- You can now see through tissue and skin and see organs of living beings (xray vision), with a whisper and guidance from your god, you have advantange on medical check during this transformation.
You can use this feature once per turn and only once per creature per short or long rest.
