Homebrew Ashwalker Species Details

"On the Anvil of War are the strong tempered and the weak made to perish, thus are men's souls tested as metal in the forge's fire.".

Ashwalkers come from the volcanic regions of the realm. Claming their ancestry from both Fire Giants and Dragons they work day and night creating miracles in the forge.

Volcano Born

Every day brings a new challenge for the Ashwalkers, either in the forge or outside of it. Drakes to take care of, ore to mine and smelt. Nobody knows where they came from but noone wants to make them angry. Ashwalkers belong to the most elite of smiths, easily rivaling dwarves, which makes the stout mountian dwellers quite jealous.

 

Ashwalker Traits

Ashwalkers share a number of traits in common with both giants and dragons.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age

Ashwalkers have lifespans comparable abite longer than humans. They enter adulthood in their late teens and usually live less than a century.

Size

Ashwalkers are between 9 and 10 feet tall and weigh between 340 and 460 pounds. Your size is Medium. (but it might be counted as large if DM approves)

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Natural Athlete

You have proficiency in the Athletics skill.

Basalt’s Endurance

You can focus yourself to occasionally shrug off injury. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a d12. Add your Constitution modifier to the number rolled and reduce the damage by that total. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Ash-Forged Physique

Your body is wrought of volcanic might and giant blood.

You count as one size larger when determining:

  • the creatures you can grapple or shove,

  • whether you can be grappled, pushed, or knocked prone.

  • your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Additionally, you have advantage on Strength saving throws made to resist being moved or knocked prone.

Obsidian Hands

Living near flowing lava and working in the forge made you accustomed to the oppresive heat.

You have resistance to fire damage.
You can comfortably tolerate heat up to 970°F (525°C) without discomfort.
You ignore the penalties of hot environments.

Additonaly your unarmed strikes deal 1d4+your strenght modifier of fire damage

Hammer's Song

Working with hammer and anvil all your life gave you new ways to use it. Anvils and Smith's tools count as a musical instrument you're proficient with, additionally when making a skill check to craft something using an anvil you may add your Chrisma modifier to the throw
