Homebrew Borrower Species Details

Borrowers are mouse-sized people who, due to the vulnerability inherent to their size, live just
outside the perception of the Large Folk. They are generally believed to be merely the denizens
of old wive’s tales and storybooks by the Large Folk (**maybe not the case everywhere, but is in
the setting of the campaign).

Each Borrower has adopted their own methods to survive and stay out of sight. Some live a
nomadic life away from large folk, learning to avoid predators and find safe shelter. Others
prefer to settle in unseen spaces within the homes of Large Folk, trading mobility for safety from
predators and the elements. They are, however, at greater risk of being seen by Large Folk.

All Borrowers have a sharp eye for useful items and a keen sense of danger. They are
excellent at repurposing objects to fit their needs, and can find a purpose for any scrap that
makes it into their hands.

As a Borrower, you have these special traits.

Darkvision

You have Darkvision with a range of 30 feet.

Borrower's Eye

You have an enhanced ability to spot valuable items or potential threats in your environment, especially those key to survival. You have proficiency in Perception and Survival, and Advantage on Perception checks.

In the Weeds

You can take the Hide action behind half cover if the enemy is medium or larger in size.

Big Vibrations, Little Legs

As an extension of passive perception, you have a passive tremorsense with a range of 5 feet for small moving creatures, 15 feet for medium or large moving creatures, and 30 feet for huge or gargantuan moving creatures.
