Homebrew Chiropteran Prime Species Details

Where the Chiropteran Hybrid balances knowledge and instinct, the Chiropteran Prime is pure primal force, sound given flesh. When the transformation occurs, bones stretch and warp, muscles coil with unnatural strength, and the Hybrid’s intellect drowns beneath a wave of instinct. Primes are entirely blind, their vision replaced by flawless echolocation. Every droplet of rain, every heartbeat, every crack in the earth is heard, felt, and understood in an instant. To a Prime, the world is not darkness, it is resonance. But when that resonance is disrupted, when noise becomes chaos or silence becomes absolute, they suffer disorientation, pain, or madness. In ancient times, the first Primes were revered as night-gods, their screams said to split mountains. Modern scholars fear them as walking disasters. Some have learned to maintain control in this state for short periods, serving as unstoppable guardians or weapons for those who can earn their trust. Few who have faced a Chiropteran Prime in battle forget the experience, the bone-shaking roar, the whirling storm of wings, and the haunting sound of clicking speech echoing long after the fight has ended.

Chiropteran Prime Traits

Chiropteran Primes are massive winged beasts of terrifying might. They wield their voices as weapons and their bodies as engines of destruction. Their power is immense, but it is fragile, sustained by the constant hum of sound around them. In silence, they are blind; in chaos, they lose control.

Ability Score Increase

+2 Strength, +1 Constitution.

Primal Language

You understand any languages you knew before transformation, but can only communicate through screeches, clicks, and ultrasonic pulses.

Enhanced Echolocation

You are completely blind, but you gain blindsight out to 120 feet as long as you can emit sound. If you are in magical silence or otherwise unable to produce sound, you are considered blinded.

Sonic Screech

As an action, you unleash a deafening shriek in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes 2d8 thunder damage and is deafened until the end of its next turn; on a success, it takes half as much damage.

Overwhelmed by Noise

If multiple loud sound sources overlap (bells, thunder, or magical cacophony), make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw at the start of your turn. On a failure, you are affected by the confusion spell until the end of your turn

Claws and Fangs

Your unarmed strikes deal 1d8 slashing (claws) or piercing (bite) damage and use Strength. If both claws hit the same target in a turn, you may attempt to grapple that creature as a bonus action.

Monstrous Build.

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
