Homebrew Aethling Deva Species Details

Aethlings are creatures of the divine realms, much as Tieflings are those of the Fiendish. There are many ways an Aethling can be awakened, for prior to this transition, they are indistinguishable from humans. Silver eyed, their divine power stems from one of two sources. Either they are the descendant of a Celestial being, coupled with a human. Or, they are a being of innocence brought into the world to counteract dark deeds carried out in the occult.

Rarely does an Aethling know of their nature, prior to their awakening. Awakenings happen when exposed to Celestial power, as if removing the blockage from a dam and letting the power flow out. Alternatively, feats of tragedy, or situations of life and death, can burnish the transition early. Regardless of factors, an Aethling will awaken upon reaching adolescence.

Your Constitution score increases by 2

Age

Aethlings mature at the same rate as humans but live far longer.

Alignment

Aethlings find themselves, due to their awakening, drawn towards Good.

Size

Aethlings are about the same size as Humans, though lighter in build. Your size is Medium.

Darkvision

Thanks to your Celestial heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey.

Celestial Nature

You have resistance to Necrotic damage. You know the Sword Burst cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Detect Evil and Good once. Once you reach 5th level, you can also cast Invisibility once. You must finish a long rest to cast these spells again with this trait. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
