Homebrew Zophatzan Species Details
Native to the deserts and savannas, this humanoid Cheetah-Hyena hybrid is built for long travel and endurance. Zophatzans are driven by their innate desire for fun and companionship, as well as the thrill of the hunt. Tending to be more dog-like in nature, they'll settle in to a small town or village and tell of their travels to anyone who would sit with them over ale, but will just as quickly return to traveling once the need arises.
Wandering Strangers
Most Zophatzans will remain in their homeland, content with their environment, but some may find the desire to roam the lands looking for adventure. The ones who don't find it end up settling into a new town or returning home, but the ones who find their adventure will never return.
Tactical and Comedic
Zophatzan culture is very open-ended. No specific religion is followed. No specific job is dominant. Everyone is different. Most Zophatzans who leave their homes have training before they begin their journey, so they’ll know better tactics than the average human and better comedy than a halfling. This gives them a slight edge on their performances.
Loyalty and Perseverance
Zophatzans have a very strong sense of loyalty once they join a party and will nearly never retreat from a battle. Their perseverant attitude can fall into any part of their lives, whether it is their adventure or their companionships.
Zophatzan Names
Every Zophatzan has an earned name, determined by their first major hunt, mainly based on their prey, and the date they caught it. Additionally, each Zophatzan also receives a given name at birth determined by a complex formula involving astronomy, prophecy, and sometimes religion and clan/tribe history.
