Homebrew Astral Elf Dragon Child Species Details
Although, creating a dragon child isn’t without sacrifice. A dragon child only gets born if its father was in a dragon form while the conception took place. However, the sperm of a dragon is highly volatile, as it’s infused with elemental magic. It literally burns its way through the ****** into the womb of the mother. As you can expect, only the strongest of humanoids survive this. Every creature with draconic blood in them is immune to this effect, as they, too, are infused with this magic. This is also the reason why there are so few metallic dragon children, because metallic dragons will never harm a humanoid on purpose. Metallic dragons will only reproduce with humanoids if a humanoid specifically asks for it, knowing they may die by doing this. Conversely, a chromatic dragon may want to make a full race of dragon children to serve under him, and has no qualms about harming humanoids in doing so. The sperm of a dragon also has another side-effect: Where the sperm came in contact with the flesh of the mother, scales will start to grow. Luckily, these scales will also grow in the womb, creating a safe space for the egg, as every dragon child gets born out of an egg. When the incubation period starts, the womb of the mother will start accommodating for this egg (following the incubation rules of the Draconomicon). The total incubation time is 300 days (+- 10 months). The egg will only be laid in the last month of the incubation. This incubation takes up so much power, that almost all non-draconic mothers die when the egg gets laid. Most dragon children start to notice they are different around the age of 3. Around this age they start growing a tail (+- 4 feet) and a pair of claws. Additionally, they grow scales in the color of their dragon parent on their forearms and lower legs. The scales also grow around their neck and shoulders, going down along their spine until it connects with their tail. They also grow claws on their hands and feet, and also usually grow a pair of small horns. Some can also grow a pair of wings, but these wings are normally vestigial, because their wing muscles are not usually strong enough to allow flight, although very rare exceptions can be found. Some dragon children like eating the food a normal dragon eats, but most prefer the food of their humanoid nature. However, most dragon children will lean to the alignment of their father. Dragon children of two other dragon children are a mix between the two types most of the time. They can be vulnerable to mood swings, as they may have two clashing alignments. The ones that do survive this heritage, however, are gorgeous.

Astral Elf Dragon Child Traits
As an Astral Elf Dragon Child, you have these special traits.Darkvision
Darkvision. Your draconic ancestry has granted you superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Dragon Claws.
Your sharp claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. The damage die for your unarmed strike increases to a d4, and it can deal slashing damage instead of bludgeoning damage.
Astral Trance.
You don't need to sleep, and magic can't put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a trancelike meditation, during which you remain conscious. Whenever you finish this trance, you gain proficiency in one skill of your choice and with one weapon or tool of your choice, selected from the Player's Handbook. You magically acquire these proficiencies by drawing them from shared elven memory and the experiences of entities on the Astral Plane, and you retain them until you finish your next long rest.
Fey Ancestry.
You have Advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the Charmed condition.
Keen Senses.
You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Starlight Step.
As a bonus action, you can magically teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
