Homebrew Colossus Species Details

Born when primordial earth magic fuses with the fossilized remains of dead gods or when archmages bind an elemental titan into a mountain-sized shell of granite and adamantine, colossus stone golems are true behemoths. Fifty to sixty feet tall and weighing hundreds of tons, they move with glacial inevitability—every motion is ponderous, every footfall a minor earthquake. Their bodies are craggy cliffs riddled with glowing rune-veins of molten stone. What they lack in speed they compensate for with godlike durability and raw destructive force: a single swinging arm can shatter castle gates, and their roar is the sound of avalanches. Despite their terrifying scale, many possess calm, contemplative minds, ancient memories of the earth itself, and a profound sense of patience measured in centuries rather than heartbeats.

Colossus Traits

As a colossus stone golem, you possess the following traits.

Unyielding Core

Your indestructible core defies destruction. When you would drop to 0 HP from damage (but not instant death), spend the use to drop to 1 HP instead. Declare as reaction to damage.

Creature Type

Construct. You are a Construct.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 4, and your Constitution score increases by 3. Your Dexterity score decreases by 2 (minimum 1)."

Age

You are ageless and immune to the ravages of time. You reach maturity immediately upon awakening and cannot die from old age.

Alignment

Stone golem colossi tend toward lawful neutral dispositions, driven by an innate sense of unyielding order and the slow rhythm of the earth.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Dwarvish, and Terran. Your voice is a deep, rumbling thunder that can be heard up to 1 mile away in open terrain

Titanic Senses

You have tremorsense with a radius of 120 feet and blindsight with a radius of 30 feet. You are blind beyond these radii in environments without ground contact.

Slow and Steady

Your base walking speed is 15 feet. You ignore difficult terrain caused by natural stone or earth features, and your speed cannot be reduced below 15 feet by any means short of complete immobilization.

Living Monolith

As a construct, you do not need to breathe, eat, or drink. Rather than sleep, you enter a dormant state for 4 hours each day, during which you remain semiconscious and aware of your surroundings.

Immutable Colossus

You have advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects. You are immune to any spell or effect that would alter your form (such as petrify or polymorph).

Adamantine Stone Hide

Your unarmored Armor Class is 22 (10 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus + 3). You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks that aren't adamantine. You have immunity to poison damage and the poisoned condition.

Damage/Condition Immunities

You are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition. You are also immune to the charmed, exhaustion, frightened, paralyzed, and petrified conditions.

Colossal Might

Count as Colossal for carry/lift. Adv. on Str checks/saves to grapple/shove/resist move (vs Huge or smaller).

Earthshaker Stomp

As an action, you can slam the ground with seismic force. Each creature other than you on the ground within a 60-foot-radius sphere centered on a point you can see within 120 feet must make a DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 6d10 bludgeoning damage and is knocked prone. On a successful save, it takes half damage and isn't knocked prone. The ground in the area becomes difficult terrain until cleared. Usable proficiency bonus times per long rest.

Crushing Sweep

Your massive swings create shockwaves. [Full mechanics above.] No action required—trigger on melee hit. DC: 8 + proficiency + Str mod.
