Homebrew Catperson Species Details

Stretching, she rose once again. Her tail stood alert, her ears listening out for any external interference. Nothing. Perfect. Her assailant's jaw was still dropped, his initial triumph turned into lethal realisation. Nadia Fortune purred, crouching, and then pounced. "You purrobably didn't expect that! Well, get ready fur THIS !"

Catpeople are a mysterious amalgamation of cats and people. Why do they exist? Various reasons. Should they? Well, of course!

Nature or Nurture

Catpeople can originate from a variety of means. Some are polymorphs/shapeshifting gone right/wrong, others are crossbreeds of feline Tabaxi, Shifters, etc and other humanoids. As such, you may have mixed parenthood, two catpeople parents, or even no feline lineage.

Personality wise, catpeople tend to diverge into two main types: the aristocat, and the alleycat.
Aristocat
You believe in keeping yourself neat and tidy. In your free time, you groom yourself and your belongings. Sleep can only be achieved in a pristine place, with good cushions, smooth covers, pleasant air, and little to no noise. If you find yourself in a less-than-comfortable setting, you may be willing to make do, but would do your best to neaten up the area you're resting on.

Alley Cat
Cats are born feral animals. While you would ensure your fur is in pristine enough condition to be comfortable and practical, you'd be willing to sleep on any surface large enough for you to lie on. You might be able to sleep in even the most chaotic of settings, but if things get too wild, you'd only be half asleep.

What did you Expect?

Catpeople's builds tend to be based on their non-feline lineage. For example, a Tabaxi-Elf Catperson would most often take the build of an Elf. Their appearance is also most like their non-feline origin, but they have cat ears, a cat tail, retractable claws, and a flexible backbone. Catpeople also tend to have a good metabolic system, unless they fail to maintain it for many years.

Multi-Purr-pose

Catpeople have a natural inclination to stretch their muscles. As such, they may choose roles that are more physically liberating, and allow them to roam. Very rarely do catpeople pick religious or academic roles, but those who do balance it with plenty of fieldwork.
