Homebrew chilled Species Details

The elements have far been separated from the modern person, until the first chilled elf was born and from then on chilled have been born from countless other races giving them a strong connection to the cold and the element of water itself.

The cold is often considered uncomfortable but the chilled thrive in it. They spend most of their time in rooms colder than freezing and their abilities grow stronger when they are cold rather than warm.

The mark of the chilled is a big light blue mark across an area of their skin that almost looks like frost spreading across their body chilling whatever it touches.

Heirs to Ice

chilled are stronger when using cold abilities and spell casters seem to have an easier time learning cold magic than fire magic.

When born chilled are occasionally shunned away from their towns because of their ancient connection to ice deities that once ravaged many lands and the mark of the chilled shows that connection.

 

Wild and Confident

 

While chilled are not widely accepted with most communities that pushed them to make their own. Most chilled live in large communities in colder biomes like the tops of mountains or polar ice caps.

The chilled are used to not being looked at kindly and use that as an opportunity to train and reconnect to their ancient ties to the ice in hopes to be respected after the ravaging of ice deities across the lands.

 

 

GENASI BACKGROUNDS

 

chilled almost all have some experience aboard or around sea vessels and in mountains and icy areas. They make excellent mariners and fishers or ice pickers. The chilled prefer quiet and solitude; the wide shores are their natural homes. They go where they want, do what they want, and rarely feel bound to anything. Good backgrounds for water genasi include hermit and sailor.

The chilled use the naming conventions of the people among whom they were raised. They might later assume distinctive names to capture their heritage, such as Wave, blizzard, winter or frost.

This trait makes a chilled have advantage in any area with below freezing temperature, or on ice , snow, or in water. This also gives a 5 ft speed advantage on ice or snow. But while in an area above one hundred degrees C a chilled will have disadvantage on all saving throws.

Genasi mature at about the same rate as humans and reach adulthood in their late teens. They live somewhat longer than humans do, up to 120 years.

Independent and self-reliant, genasi tend toward a neutral alignment.

Genasi are as varied as their mortal parents but are generally built like humans, standing anywhere from 5 feet to over 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium.
