Homebrew Ancient Piano Species Details

Age: Nobody is quite sure how Ancient Pianos come to be, but as implied by the name they are awfully ancient, with samples from their skin dating back over 1000 years, it is widely believed trough folklore and fairy tail that they begin to sprout from tree branches, very few survive the hundred-odd years it takes to get to maturity and break free from their tree thus gaining sentience. The oldest known Ancient Piano fossils were believed to be around 6500 years old, and others have been dated around the 5500 age range.

Alignment: Ancient Pianos fluctuate wildly in their alignment, many call them true neutral but this is simply not true when a song is played it changes their alignment, no one is quite sure why this happens, people just say they have the music in their soul. This is only if they are a bard wich most of them are, but if someone some stingy stubborn person decides that they want to be excommunicated from their own race and become a different class well than their ******* always lawful good and would never even hurt a fly.

Size: The Ancient Piano from the time it breaks free to the time it loses sentience stays a consistent and uniform between 48"- 52" tall. They're weight never fluctuates and are always 800lbs no matter what (because that's what the player's handbook says)

Speed: Pianos have a normal walking speed of 30 feet with their piano roller equipped, and 15 without.

Rollers: When on a hill Ancient pianos have triple movement speed going down and 1/2 movement speed when going uphill. At the end of a turn if the Ancient Piano has not taken a movement action, said piano will roll down whatever surface they are on until they reach a flat surface or collide with something. Rollers can also float and climb at a speed equal to the current walking speed

Language: Pianian, Primordial, Common

Armorless: Due to the body type of a piano you can no wear armor unless specially fitted by a tailor but they can choose to equip a special protective case that gives +2 to ac but halves all movement.

Natural Performer: Due to the pianoy nature of being a piano, Ancient Pianos get expertise in piano-based performance and proficiency in all other forms of performance

It's a ******* piano what did you expect: Due to the nature of pianos, they get opposite of proficiency in acrobatics


Collision: When rolling downhill if the movement is not taken, and piano collides with an object damage is calculated for both parties thusly

1-3 Tiles (5-15 feet) 0 dmg

4-6 Tiles (20-30 feet) DC 12 dex save, failed save creature takes 1d6 bludgeoning dmg on a success creature takes 1/2 damage

7-8 Tiles (35-40 feet) DC 17 dex save, failed save creature takes 2dg bludgeoning dmg on a success creature takes 1/2 damage

9-10 Tiles (45-50 feet) DC 20 dex save, failed save creature takes 4d6 bludgeoning dmg on a success creature takes 1/2 damage

Terminal velocity: 11+ Tiles (55+ Feet) DC 25 dex save, failed save creature takes 8d6 blg + 2d6 fire dmg  on a success creature takes 1/2 damage (Ancient Piano takes 2d6 fire even on a successful save)
