Homebrew Avian Species Details

A species fairly uncommon, and best avoided.  They tend to be either a God who has descended into mortal form, or a Godling, though they can often be descendants of Gods. Typically identified by feathers growing on the sides of their face or around their ankles; and wings in place of ears, wings similar to an angels on the back, and a feather plumage similar to that of a bird. They tend to enjoy shiny things, and have a keener sense of smell. They do also have rather strong instincts, possibly due to their bird-like anatomy and features. More often than not an adventurer will encounter an avian and not know it. There are plenty of other species that share the same traits, and unless you are one of those species its hard to tell the difference. Many avians that one will encounter are considered fledgelings, typically as they are not full Gods, or are considered young for the species. Though typically fledgelings are created on their own, there are times when they are cared for/ taught by an older one or a descended God. It is advised to avoid these avians as you may be seen as a threat to the fledgling. As they are a bird-like species they typically have a penchant for shiny things, hiding valuables in small spaces, and nesting. Most also seem to have an easier time understanding or accepting magic; most likely due to their blood being related to a God's. They also tend to have softer footsteps, due both to their size and sometimes having talons instead of normal toes.

Innate Understanding

Similar to how Avians have easier times learning magic, they also comprehend language better than other species, most likely due to their godly origins.

Ability Score Increase

Avians specialize in magic and blood magic, and on occasion enchanting and artificing. Most avians either know innately at a certain age, or are taught various rituals they can complete using their blood, hair, or any part of themselves. What is needed to cast the ritual depends on how powerful and complicated the ritual is.
