Homebrew Dragonblood Species Details

This race stems from a realm unlike any other. A realm populated only by humans & humanoid dragons of all kinds, dragonborn, draconian, & many more. The name of this realm is Fafnidhug.

Legend tells that this race was created through the wish of a human woman. She wished for nothing more, but to help people & stop the war that’s been raging on in Fafnidhug for centuries. Deciding to grant this woman her wish, the God of this realm, Drayke,  made her pregnant (not through sex). Before even giving birth, she knew her baby was destined for greatness.

Once she gave birth, the baby turned out to be a boy. Believing him to be something special, she named him after mythical giant monsters, Kaiju. As Kaiju grew, it was apparent that he was born of dragon blood, not like any other humanoid dragons ever seen. Unsure what her son truly was, she asked for a blessing from Drayke, like she did once more. Drayke answered her call, planting an explanation of what Kaiju was. Due to him being of the creation of the very God of this dragon riddled realm, Kaiju was deemed as being the 1st ever dragonblood.

Wanting to furphil his mother’s wish that brought him into exsistence, Kaiju ventured out into the world he called home, protecting the people. Over time, he grew in power & ended the 4th Draconic War.

Celebrated as a hero, the people wished for Kaiju to be rewarded. Not wanting anything in return for his deeds, Kaiju wanted to continue to serve the people. Still wanting to thank Kaiju, the races agreed to deeming him the ruler of their realm as the 1st Emperor of All Dragon Kind.

Unsure about how to leave his world after his death, Kaiju declared that he’d have no successor, though he had a son & daughter. Not wanting to leave behind a world that could return to what he fought to end, he wanted the people  of each race to choose 3 representatives for their own race. These representatives make up the Grand Scales. The Grand Scales role is to keep the peace between the races, preventing a 5th Draconic War from starting.

On his death bed, however, Kaiju was given a vision from Drayke. The vision showed Kaiju a 2nd Ruler of All Dragon Kind. Using his dying breath, he told his children of the vision, stating it to be the prophecy of the race that started with him.

The blood of a dragon flows within you, granting you draconic power based on the element your born with & your personality.

True Dragon’s Blood

Due to the dragonblood race being created straight from Drayke, God of the Realm Fafnidhug, the aftermath of reproduction is a bit different. If a child is born for a dragonblood as 1 parent & the other parent not being dragonblood, the amount of dragonblood that parent is will be the child’s, but 5% less. The rest of the child’s DNA will be the other parent’s DNA.

Example: parent 1 100% dragonblood + parent 2 100% human = child 95% dragonblood 5% human

Draconic Ancestry 1st Half

You can use the 1st half of your draconic ancestry. Choose 1 type of dragon from the Draconic Type table. Your breath weapon and damage resistance are determined by the dragon type, as shown in the table.

You can use the 2nd half of your draconic ancestry. Choose 1 type of dragon from the 2nd Draconic Type table. Your 2nd damage resistance and new ability are determined by the dragon type, as shown in the table.

Age

Young dragonbloods take longer than most humanoid dragons do. In fact, when dragonborns are the size of 10 year old humans at the age of 3, dragonbloods are the size of a 4 year old human at the age of 3. Over time, human children do pass dragonbloods in growth when their 6.

Once a dragonblood hits puberty, at age 13, they slowly start shoot up in height at this time though. 

 Unlike normal dragonborns, dragonbloods live even longer than humans, living to be around 120 years old on average.

Alignment

Most of the time, dragonbloods align good since the original dragonblood, Kaiju, was created to end the 4th Draconian War.

They’re quite proud & loyal as well, making sense with he’d do that.

Size

Dragonbloods stand as tall as dragonborns, well over 6 ft tall, but their less heavy than dragonborns.

Your size is median.

Speed

Walking speed of 30 feet.

Swimming speed of 20 feet.

Climbing speed of 35 feet.

Breath Weapon

You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you can’t use it again until you complete a short or long rest.

Damage Resistance

You have resistance to the damage type associated with your 1st draconic ancestry.

Language

You can speak, read, & write Common, Draconic, & Deep Speech. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.
