Homebrew Chitinos Species Details

Chitinos are heavily armored crustacean humanoids known for their immense strength, survival instincts, and territorial nature. Built like living siege engines, they strike hard, endure punishment, and retreat only to return stronger.

Chitinos Traits

Chitinos evolved to survive crushing depths, violent tides, and relentless predators. Their thick chitinous shells provide natural protection, while their powerful limbs allow them to dominate close combat and traverse treacherous terrain. When gravely wounded, Chitinos rely on ingrained survival instincts, withdrawing with sudden speed rather than fighting to extinction. These traits make them formidable warriors, especially in harsh or aquatic environments.

Ability Score Increase

Your strength score increases by 2 and your constitution score by 1.

Speed

You have a walking speed of 30 and you have a swimming speed equal to your walking speed.

Natural Weapons

Your arms have natural weapons. When you make an attack with them, the attack deals 1d6 piercing damage.

Natural Armor

While not wearing armor, your AC is equal to 13 + your constitution modifier.  This feature cannot work with shields

Emergency Exit

When you fall under half of your maximum hit points, you can use your reaction to move up to your maximum walking speed. This movement does not provoke opportunity attack.

Darkvision

You have darkvision for 60 ft.

Languages

Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character.

Amphibious

You can breathe in both air and water.
