Homebrew Beastren Species Details

The Beastren are a much more physically powerful and humanoid counterpart to Tabaxis and Leonin. They roughly match Leonin in strength, but it varies depending on the person. Most Beastren revere "The Lambent Flame" as their protector and their savoir and Emperor Nadinia as the voice of their protector. Their fur can match that of any other feline's as, as can their ancestry.

Creature Type

You are a humanoid.

Size

You are either medium or small. You choose when creating your character.

Languages

Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of languages to choose from. The DM is free to modify that list for a campaign.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet, and you have a climbing speed equal to your walking speed.

Ability Score Increase

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. You can't raise any of your scores above 20.

Cat's Talent

You have proficiency in the Perception and Stealth skills.

Age

Beastren age at the same rate as humans.

Adaptability

You have proficiency in two skills of your choice.

Daunting Roar

As a bonus action, you can let out an especially menacing roar. Creatures of your choice within a 20 foot sphere of you that can hear you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn. The DC of the save equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Desert Affinity

Beastren are made for the desert. You have resistance against fire and vulnerable to cold from cold climates.*

*Take cold damage intermittently if not wearing protective gear.
