Homebrew Warlock Species Details

Warlocks look predominantly human but are marked by a single, unique Warlock Mark—a physical deformity or inhuman trait inherited from their demonic parent. Common marks include:
      • Animalistic Features: Cat eyes with slitted pupils, horns, bat wings, goat feet, or a lizard's tail.
      • Unusual Skin/Hair: Blue or green skin, white hair from birth, or a lack of a navel.
Nature and Immortality
      • Agelessness: Warlocks are immortal. They age normally until they reach a certain point in young adulthood (typically late teens to early twenties), after which they stop aging physically.
      • Infertility: As crossbreeds, nearly all warlocks are sterile and unable to have children.
      • The Fade: Over centuries, warlocks may experience "petrification" or "fading"—a state of mental and emotional exhaustion where they lose interest in life.

Magical Abilities
Unlike other Downworlders, warlocks inherently possess the ability to cast magic, which they often perform using the demonic language Chthonian.
      • Warlock Specialties: They are masters of portals, summoning rituals, and complex potions.
      • Ifrits: Rare warlocks born without any magical ability are called Ifrits; they retain their immortality and warlock mark but cannot cast spells.

Society
      • High Warlocks: While independent, major cities often appoint a High Warlock
      • The Spiral Labyrinth: A secretive central organization where the most gifted warlocks study and record magical research.

Warlock Traits

The Warlock is an immortal species born of the union between humanity and the demonic realms. Known as "Lilith’s Children," they are defined by a unique physical deformity—the Warlock’s Mark—and an innate, fluid command over magic that bypasses the need for formal study. Existing as ageless bridges between worlds, they are the architects of portals and the keepers of arcane secrets that mortals were never meant to hold.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and one other by 1. Your innate connection to the demonic realms and powerful will are your primary sources of influence.

Warlock's Mark

You bear a permanent, inhuman physical deformity (e.g., cat eyes, horns, blue skin) inherited from your demonic parent. This mark identifies you to other supernatural beings and provides advantage on Intimidation and Persuasion checks.

Eternal Essence (Immortality)

You reach physical maturity in young adulthood and then cease aging entirely. You are immune to magical aging effects.

Sterile Nature

Due to your crossbreed biology, you are incapable of bearing children.

Demonic Resilience

Your immortal blood grants you resistance to Necrotic damage.

Language Fluency

You can speak, read, and write Chthonian, Common, and one other of your choice.

Hellmist Vulnerability

Your connection to the Void makes you susceptible to certain magical environments. You have disadvantage on saving throws against effects that explicitly use Hellmist or demonic toxins.

The Fade

While you cannot die of old age, you are susceptible to "petrification"—a mental exhaustion that occurs if you go too long without finding new purpose in your immortal life.

Innate Spellcasting

You know the Prestigiditation and Thaumaturgy cantrips.

Spellcasting

You slowly gain spells over a period of time. You are able to use each of them a number of times plus your Proficiency Bonus.
