Homebrew 2024 Leonin - Custom world Species Details

The Leonin are proud, lion-like humanoids who roam and guard the great open lands beyond the Sea of Trees, where sky stretches wide and the earth answers to claw and stride alike. They live in tight-knit prides, valuing freedom, strength, and balance with the natural world above all else.

Most leonin have little need for distant cities or foreign crowns, knowing well that walls breed treachery as often as safety. Yet some feel the pull of the wider world. These wanderers leave the open plains to test their courage, carry their pride’s honor abroad, or to stand watch where wilderness and civilization meet, ensuring neither forgets the cost of the other.

NOBLE AND FIERCE
Leonin tend to be tall compared to humans and move with a boldness that suggests their physical might. Tawny fur covers leonin bodies, and some grow thick manes ranging in shades from gold to black. While their hands prove as nimble as those of other humanoids, leonin have retractable feline claws, which they can extend instantly. This, along with their ability to  produce bone-shaking roars, gives most leonin an air that readily shifts between regal and fearsome. Leonin often act with confidence, which can come off as imperiousness. While this can reassure their allies, it can also suggest defiance in the face of what they perceive as imposed authority or unworthy experts.
