Homebrew Chiropter Species Details

Bat-like

They resemble bats in many ways. From their wings to their faces and furry bodies. Chiropters tend to live in large, tight colonies. These colonies can have thousands of members roosting together. They are a secretive folk who remain in the colony they born in. Different colonies can look astonishingly distinct, they can vary from 5ft to 6ft in height, some have faces resembling a mouse, while others have flattened noses.

Protectors of the forest

They are not possessive of their home, they understand that the forests are fountains of life for many creatures and believe themselves to be the protectors of the forest. Any one can enter, but excessive destruction of the area will invoke their wrath. They be hard to see way up above the scope of many humanoids' sight, but they're there waiting to pounce on anyone seeking to harm the home of so many creatures. Due to this tendency to attack those who cut down the forest, they are seen as pests by many developing cities trying to get enough resources to build their homes.

The vast majority of them worship Silvanus, the god of nature. They, depending on the colony, are more lenient when it comes to stopping the expansion of civilization than Silvanus is. They believe that all creatures have the right to the forest, as long as they don't hoard. Often times a colony will be seen selling the logs and wood of sickly trees who will die and are taking up space to other races. This helps keep younger trees and shorter ferns growing and the thinning of trees reduces chances of landslides, thus falling into their duties as the protectors of forests.
