Homebrew Arkveld Species Details
Arkveld are a race of artificial draconic beings, made thousands of years ago for the protection of ancient kingdoms, as well as for their warfare needs. Though, these long dead beings lost control of their creations and paid for it immensely. Now, Arkveld have suffused themselves across the mortal plane as simply part of the ecosystem, if a bit problematic. With their ability to rob the lifeforce of other beings through their infamous chainblades, they have carved themselves a place in history's tapestry.
Arkveld appear like their distant Dragonborn cousins, covered in cloud grey scales and sporting a sizable jaw. But, that is where the similarities end. Arkveld are covered in a thick coat of grey fur on their backs and underarm wings, and their scales have been fused into heavily armored plates on their tails, backs, chest and thighs. Their most striking attribute is their prehensile chain-like appendages, attached at the wrist. These armored tendrils can act as arms and injectors of Dragon Element into their environment, as well as simple blunt force weapons. Using these chainblades, Arkveld are able to absorb the lifeforce of other beings and use it to bolster their own.
Arkveld are typically between 6 and 7.5 feet tall, and weigh between 225 and 300 pounds. The tops of their heads are covered in thick, bone-like scale plates that come down past their chins as horns. The crests vaguely resemble a helmet.
