Homebrew Ancients Species Details

A species made of almost pure magic. No god or goddess knows where they came from and none have claimed to have made them. These beings, now known as Ancients, claim that the very Weave is their home and that they were created from it, and that now they're here to guard its most precious magics with their lives. Ancients Traits

Ancient Traits:

Creature Type

You are a Humanoid and an Aberration.

Speed

You have a Walk Speed of 25 ft and a Fly Speed of 15 ft.

Size

You can be a Small or Medium sized creature.

Ancientsight

Due to your kind's constant exposure to the Weave, you're able to see past magic boundaries, you just need to get used to it first. At character level 8, you gain Truesight of up to 30 ft. If you gain Truesight any other way, this 30 ft of Truesight is added onto it.

Weave Magic

Your kind draws on the Power of the Weave itself. You know the cantrip Sorcerous Burst and one more of your choice from any spell list. After every Short or Long Rest, you may swap your chosen cantrip for another one of your choice. After every Long Rest, you can pick any one of your stats to use as your Spellcasting stat for these cantrips. When picking a damage type for when you cast Sorcerous Burst, you may also choose from Necrotic, Radiant, or Force. When picking a damage type for when you cast your chosen cantrip, only if the cantrip has damage type choices, you may choose any magical damage type. You are also Resistant to Force damage.

Weave Knowledge

Your kind has passed down knowledge of the Weave for generations. And you inherit this knowledge. You have Advantage and Proficiency in Arcana checks.

Lifespan

Your kind is relatively hard to age. For every 10 years that pass, your body ages by 1 year. You are resistant to being magically aged.

Ancient Transformation

Your kind are made of bendable magic that can alter your form. As an Action, you can turn into any Aberration or Elemental species that has a CR that is equal to or less than your character level, provided that you have encountered the creature in the past. While transformed, you have the STR stat of the creature they turned into but retain your other stats, capability to cast spells, and can still speak your languages. You do not gain any legendary or lair actions the creature may have. You can take an Action to revert to normal. You cannot take any Bonus, Free, or Movement actions the turn you transform or revert back. You can only transform this way once per Long Rest.

Languages

You know Deep Speech, Undercommon, Primordial, and one more language of your choice.
