Homebrew Cat Species Details
The Felis are remarkably diverse, reflecting the vast array of feline appearances found across the planes. Standing between 2 and 3 feet tall, they possess lithe, flexible bodies that allow them to squeeze through gaps that would stop a Halfling. Their fur patterns range from sleek, solid blacks and whites to intricate tabby stripes, tortoiseshell patches, or the regal spots of a miniature leopard.
Their most striking feature is their expressive eyes, which often glow with a faint inner light in the dark. These eyes come in vibrant shades of amber, emerald, or sapphire, sometimes even displaying Heterochromia (two different colors).
Because they are small and agile, Felis prefer light, flexible clothing that doesn't hinder their climbing. Many favor silk wraps, leather harnesses for gear, or enchanted collars that serve as Arcane Focuses. Though they can walk on two legs, they often drop to all fours when sprinting or prowling.
A Felis's mood is never a mystery to those who know how to read them; a twitching tail denotes irritation, while a slow blink is a sign of ultimate trust. Despite their civilized clothing and speech, they retain feline habits—a penchant for high perches, a deep-seated distrust of heavy rain, and a predatory focus that can make other races feel like they are being "hunted" during a simple conversation.
