Homebrew Draconic Tabaxi (Cat-Dragon Hybrid Race) Species Details

Born from the rare union of a Tabaxi and a true dragon, Draconic Tabaxi—sometimes called Skyclaws or Winged Prowlers—combine predatory speed with draconic power. They are quick, proud, curious, and terrifyingly mobile.

Draconic Tabaxi (Cat-Dragon Hybrid Race) Traits

As a Draconic Tabaxi, you have these special traits.

Ability Score Increase

You gain 3 total ability score points, distributed in one of the following ways:

  • +2 to one ability score and +1 to another
  • +1 to three different ability scores
  • +3 to one ability score

No ability score can exceed 20 at character creation.

Darkvision

You have darkvision out to 60 feet.

Feline Agility

Your reflexes and muscles are tuned for explosive movement.

When you move on your turn, you can double your movement speed until the end of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.

(This works with flight. Yes, it’s scary. Dragons would approve.)

Draconic Ancestry

You have draconic ancestry. Choose one type of dragon from the Draconic Ancestry table. Your breath weapon and damage resistance are determined by the dragon type, as shown in the table.

Draconic Ancestry
Dragon Damage Type Breath Weapon
Black Acid 15-foot cone or 30-foot line
Blue Lightning 15-foot cone or 30-foot line
Brass Fire 15-foot cone or 30-foot line
Silver Cold 15-foot cone or 30-foot line
Green Poison 15-foot cone or 30-foot line

Breath Weapon

As an action, you exhale elemental energy in a 15-foot cone or 30-foot line (your choice each time). Creatures in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus).

On a failed save, a creature takes 1d10 damage of your ancestry’s type.

On a successful save, it takes half damage.

The damage increases as you level: 5th level: 2d10, 11th level: 3d10, 17th level: 4d10

You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Damage Resistance

You have resistance to the damage type associated with your Draconic Ancestry.

Claws

Your claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes.
If you hit, the strike deals 1d6 slashing damage instead of the normal bludgeoning damage.

Keen Senses

You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Draconic, and one language of your choice.
