Homebrew Aguari Species Details

The Aguari are tall, long-limbed humanoids whose proportions give them a striking silhouette against open horizons. Their torsos are proportioned much like any other humanoid, but their legs are notably elongated, granting them a height that often surprises those who approach them up close. When standing still, they appear statuesque and calm. When in motion, they move with an effortless stride that seems to cover more ground than it should.

Their features are refined and angular rather than beastly, with subtle vulpine traits—slightly tapered ears, warm amber or russet eyes, and hair or fur that carries shades of deep red, copper, and black along the limbs. Their hands remain fully dexterous and humanlike, though their fingers are often long and delicate.

There is something faintly uncanny about the Aguari—not in a way that unsettles, but in the way that makes people look twice. Their height, their deliberate pacing, and the quiet precision of their posture create the sense that they are slightly out of sync with hurried crowds. They rarely rush. They rarely stumble. Even their stillness feels intentional.

Aguari tend toward introspection and independence. Many prefer open spaces, high vantage points, and the quiet margins of civilization. They are not antisocial, but they often find comfort in solitude, where their long strides and steady breathing carry them far from noise and clutter.

To see an Aguari walking alone across an open field at dusk is to understand them best: tall, unhurried, and undeniably distinct.

Aguari Traits

The Aguari’s elongated build and keen senses grant them natural agility and awareness. Accustomed to traveling alone across wide horizons, they are steady of step and difficult to unsettle.

Long-Limbed Stride

Your elongated legs allow you to move with unusual efficiency. When you take the Dash action, difficult terrain does not cost you extra movement until the end of the turn. Additionally, you have advantage on saving throws against being knocked prone.

Keen Awareness

You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

In addition, you have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Twilight Sight

You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.

Solitary Composure

Accustomed to relying on yourself, you remain steady even without support.

Once per long rest, when you fail an ability check, and no ally is within 10 feet of you, you can reroll the check and must use the new roll.
