Homebrew Carcinizoid Species Details

The Carcinizoids were raised from the sea by the ancient deity Wombo, who gifted them the ability to live on land or under water. They are born with strong natural armor, in the form of an exoskeleton, which protects them from harm. They believe their god Wombo emerged from the earth, into the sea through an underwater volcano. Some say that from every volcano, from every trench, and from every crack in the earth beneath the waves, a bit of Wombo's essence seeps out into the seas.

They typically live a nomadic lifestyle, traveling in droves below the seas, often settling by reefs or undersee caves. Some build grand cities and temples by undersea volcanos, where they believe Wombo was born. But it is not too strange to find Carcinizoids on dry land. Some of them choose to make their homes on secluded islands, and sometimes along the coast of the mainland.

The multitude of environments the Carcinizoids have inhabited have shaped, not just their lifestyles, but their physiology as well, causing them to evolve differently. This branching in evolution has led to much diversity among them. Aranea, Dolor, Kiwaidae, and Pugil are examples of Carcinizoids who have been transformed as such.
