Homebrew Augt Maeman Species Details

A race long thought to be gone from the realms, related to long passed and grand kingdom and language none of them seem to remember.

Tall and spindly but strong and determined fur-less humanoids, resembling slightly bulkier Elves or slimmer Orcs(whichever you can imagine best). Their skin is pale or green in color and they grow their hair out long, seemingly by nature, whether tied up in large bee hives or left hanging in thick ropes. They have short but defined snouts, like that of a mix between wolf and monkey. theirs eyes are completely black except for their pupils, with golden pupils seen in males and purple pupils in females. though rare some have evidence that their kin once had lizard like tails. Even rarer, some still have short and minimally opposable tails that don't serve much use or purpose other than getting in the way of clothes or armor. They grow and mature very quickly, reaching genetic maturity around 19 years where they're muscles and height are almost perfectly toned where they need to be. after around 60 years old they start to weaken, backs hunching slowly and their minds opening. If given proper care and condition in their "senile" years, they can live up to 90.

The minds opening part is literal. As Maemen reach this point, they seem to become more easily attuned with magic, and you rarely find one starting research into magic or showing magical abilities until about 50 years old. Something about learning or having magic boosts their life expectancy, some examples I've seen living up to 120! Though they find magic in old age, they have MUCH sharper senses - particularly eye sight and depth perception/distance estimation - when they are young. Perhaps this has something to do with their ancestors? The old texts I've found describe them as a large, conquering empire... maybe they used greater range to their advantage.

No matter what age though... they HATE water! Swimming, wading, or just working with it, they often have trouble or disdain.
