Homebrew Deathclaw Species Details
The creature which came to be called the "deathclaw" was engineered from scientific experiments conducted by the Enclave, through secret United States government programs, to develop a cheap, cost-effective replacement for human troops during heavy-duty combat operations. It was the result of a genetic mix of various animal species, with the primary test subject being Jackson's chameleons. The project was successful in creating a ferocious predator capable of surviving and thriving on its own in nearly any environment, and it is known that at least one deathclaw was tested in a combat scenario prior to 2077, deployed against Chinese PLA forces on an Alaskan island during the Sino-American War.
Deathclaws look like wingless, bipedal dragons— scaly, bright-eyed, and thick-boned with horns on their heads—and their coloration and other features are reminiscent of their draconic ancestors. They are closely related to Dragonborn.
