Homebrew Dracokin Species Details

Dracokin are people who have been genetically modified from birth with a singular purpose, to hunt and slay dragons.

They are humanoid in nature, those features mimic which ever humanoid was used as a base for that being. Their hands are scaled and clawed, the feet representing more talons of a great lizard. Their scales can vary in colour, depending on the type of dragon they had last eaten. They have wings on their back barely large enough to support the weight of their bodies, and they take great effort to fly with them. Their heads grow large draconic horns, that are often decorated with jewellery or paint. They may or may not have a tail, depending on how assimilated they are with their draconic modifications.

Dracokin live for around 300 years, and assuming nothing goes wrong, they will enter a cycle or reincarnation. Their body regresses to the size of an infant, at which point they will create a cocoon around themselves, forming what appears to be an egg. After gestating for a year, they are reborn as a new person, forgetting all memories of their past life. Occasionally they may recall a few powerful memories, such as impactful enemies or friends, or even their name.

Dracokin often prefer to live alone or within small groups, often among people of other species, as to feel superior to them. They spend their lives seeking out dragons on instinct to hunt and eat them. From eating dragons, they can assimilate a portion of their power, making it their own, until it is replaced with the power of a different dragon.
