Homebrew Caprico Species Details
Froms the cold lands of the east, there comes a race of cloven folk who spread knowledge like prayer and feed on information like it can replace sustenance. While they are quite recognizable by their caprinae features--these folk can come in many variations. From appearing almost like an upright sheep to someone with goat-like pupils. Largely a friendly group, they can become fierce when provoked and have brought down many daring challengers to their knees with a fierce knock of their horns or stomp of their hoof. Despite their fascination with knowledge, they have a rather unfortunate perception of being dull to the number of travellers who have seen their ability to digest grass and other like flora--quickly comparing it to their less sapient friends.
Seekers of Knowledge
The Caprico can be somewhat nomadic, though most notably have an 'anchor' of sorts where they always return to. Whether it is a scholar who is on a journey for elusive scripts or a shepherd who has herded their flock past jagged mountains--they will once again step foot in the place they call home. The most concerning sight for a Caprico is one who never stops travelling or another who never steps a foot outside their home town. To be without a roost, or caged in.
Most of those raised within a predominately Caprico town tend to be rather chatty, a result of how these folk tend to share their knowledge with everyone and anyone who will listen. However due to how often a lot of this knowledge tends to be mundane in combination with the rather unfortunately inquisitive nature of Caprico, a large portion of people have written them off to be dull. It doesn't help their caprinae stomach can digest most plant life--and not many find munching on daisies the activities of geniuses.
Arcana Inclined
With how a vast group of Caprico tend to become shepherds, it is easy for many to forget these particular caprinae-like folk are more in tune to the arcana than one might assume. Most tend to end up falling into the more magically adept classes such as mage, druid, cleric, or warlock. It isn't often you'll see them actively promoting their abilities as most don't become adventurers in the classic sense since it is seen as a distraction from the pursuit of knowledge. Don't let their pursuit fool you though--they are not nearly as posh as one would expect from a group of folk who seek out what there is to be known.
Most Caprico have a natural sense of magic and tend to instinctively seek out more enchanted locations or objects, even if they arn't aware of what exactly is drawing them in. Due to this they have an almost perfect sense of direction due to their ability to follow natural leylines and sense magnetic north. Their attraction to anything mystical has led them to having a rather oddly great relationship with magical races and creatures, like fae.
Caprico Names
Caprico tend to have unisex noun based names, whether it is directly a noun or altered from a noun. Most tend to be named after desserts or ingrediants for desserts. The second most common names are bird names. It isn't uncommon for them to take the names of some of the other races their close to--such as the fae. Surnames usually follow occupation. If a surname doesnt immediately tell you their families trade, there is definitely a story behind it.
