Homebrew Cheshaari Species Details
The Cheshaari are a rare and enigmatic race of fey beings native to the ever-shifting realms of the Feywild, where illusion and reality intertwine. Born from whimsy and deception, they are known for their playful yet unsettling nature—delighting in pranks, misdirection, and the bending of perception itself. To most outsiders, Cheshaari are both fascinating and unnerving, as their presence often brings with it a sense that the world is not quite as it seems. According to fey legend, the Cheshaari were created by Lady Leira, the goddess of illusion, as living embodiments of her domain. Rather than crafting them with rigid purpose, she wove them from fragments of laughter, shadow, and half-truths, granting each one a spark of her divine unpredictability. They were set loose in the Feywild not as servants, but as expressions of her philosophy—that illusion is not merely deception, but an art form that reveals deeper truths through misdirection. Cheshaari society is loose and fluid, lacking formal hierarchy or structure. They are a same-sex (male) species, reproducing through mysterious fey means tied to illusion magic, often said to “emerge” from particularly potent distortions in reality. Names among them tend to be whimsical, layered, or symbolic, often carrying hidden meanings or wordplay that reflect their trickster nature.
Languages
They typically speak Common and Sylvan, the latter being the natural tongue of the Feywild, rich with nuance, metaphor, and double meanings—perfectly suited to their way of thinking.
