Homebrew Amalgam Species Details

Amalgams are parts of various species, stitched together into a hideous form. They are larger than typical humanoids and better in ever physical aspect. They are often also intelligent and wise, allowing them insightful views upon humanoids and the ability to learn at a rapid rate. While commonly resembling humanoids, Amalgams take many forms, dependent on their creator. They struggle to fit in with society due to their disformed builds, yet meet it with compassion and respect.

Amalgam Traits

As an Amalgam, you gain these special traits.

Hideous Form

You have advantage on intimidation checks. Additionally, when a creature can see you within 60ft makes a saving throw to avoid or end the frightened condition, you may choose to impose disadvantage.

Unnatural Instinct

As a bonus action, you can draw energy from within to power you. Choose one ability (str, dex, con, int, wis, cha). Until your next turn, checks (including attack rolls and saving throws) made with that ability cannot suffer from disadvantage. Additionally, checks made with that ability add your proficiency bonus. If a check is made and would normally add your proficiency bonus, it instead adds twice your proficiency bonus. If it already adds twice your proficiency bonus, you instead have advantage on the roll. This advantage may stack with other advantage. This benefit lasts until the beginning of your next turn. This ability may be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain half the expended uses (rounded up) after a long rest.
