 Starchildren are stars that inhabit mortal bodies and walk the earth. Sometimes they fall to the earth from carelessness, other times they are pulled down against their will. They grant a wish to anyone who helps them return to the heavens, but can only return to the heavens through an act of great valor or sacrifice. 

 

Celestial Features

 Starchildren look like humans, but they have luminous eyes and softer than normal skin. They are extremely rare, and seen as objects of enormous value in some societies. The defining feature of a Starchild is their radiant eyes, which will glow in a dark space. 

 

Wanderers by Necessity

Starchildren are seen as a valuable collector's items in societies that trade in human chattel, and are sometimes forced down from the sky by powerful spell casters for this purpose. In more isolated regions, Starchildren are things of legend, thought to be able to grant wishes at will. Starchildren might be worshipped in certain societies, or seen as vile demons in others. Known only to the most dedicated scholars of magical lore, drinking the blood of a Starchild can extend one's lifetime far beyond normal limits. Because of this, most Starchildren hide their identities, drifting from town to town, biding their time until they can return to the cosmos.

 

Companions and Morals

Starchildren tend to lean towards good alignments, but can be corrupted by the pleasures of the mortal world. Starchildren have been known to take companions and lovers, but these stories never end well, as the Starchild either outlives the partner, or the partner dies trying to protect the Starchild. 

 

Starchild Names

Starchildren carry two names: their original Celestial names, and a human name, which tends to match the region they stay in. Starchildren only reveal their Celestial names to those they trust completely, as per tradition.

Male Celestial Names: Camiel, Theo, Kemuel, Sandalphon, Cadriel

Neutral Celestial Names: Chasan, Tadhiel, Karael, Sariel, Iaoth

Female Celestial Names: Portia, Sopheriel, Sizouze, Pronoia, Empyrean

You live until slain by the sword, wasted by diseases, or ascended into the cosmos.

Alignment

Starchildren lean towards good alignments, but it is not unheard of for them to be corrupted by worldly desires.

You are medium sized.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Luminous Form

You can cast the Light spell, centered on yourself. You need no material components. This is a bonus action, and can be turned on and off at will.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Celestial and Common.
