đ§Ș Advanced Red-Slime (Player Species)
𧏠Origin Hook (Summoned by a Deity)
You werenât bornâyou were formed with intent.
A god or goddess pulled together scattered essence, memory fragments,
and primal ooze, then taught it to think. You are the result: a thinking slime with purpose.
You can flavor your summoner as:
A trickster deity (curiosity experiment đ)
A knowledge god (living archive)
A chaos entity (youâre⊠an accident that worked)
âïž Core Traits (Balanced for D&D)
đą Creature Type
Ooze (instead of humanoid)
đą Size
Small or Medium (your âtrueâ form is fluid anyway)
đą Speed
30 ft (you glide rather than walk)
đ§ Slime Body
You have resistance to acid damage
You have advantage on checks to escape grapples
Creatures do not gain bonus damage from piercing attacks against you (flavor-wise they pass through more easily)
â ïž Balance note: Full immunity would be bustedâthis keeps it fair.
â Manipulative Limbs
You can form pseudopods to interact with objects
You have advantage on Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) checks
But you have disadvantage on Strength (Athletics) checks against being shoved or restrained
Youâre precise⊠not strong.
đ§ Change Form
As an action, you can transform into a humanoid form under 6 ft
This is a visual + structural mimic, not a perfect biological copy
Lasts for 1 hour (or concentration, depending on DM)
Limitations:
Armor doesnât merge well â you canât benefit from heavy armor
Close inspection can reveal your nature (slight wobble, texture, etc.)
đ Shifting Form
You cannot wear heavy armor
Medium armor works with disadvantage on Stealth (it âsloshesâ đ
)
Light armor or magical items adapt best
đŠ Internal Storage (Living Vault)
This is your coolest trait, so letâs balance it carefully:
You can store items inside yourself like a limited Bag of Holding
Capacity: equal to your Strength score Ă 5 lbs
Retrieving items = bonus action
đ Analysis Ability
After storing an item for 1 hour:
You can analyze its structure
If you have the materials, you can attempt to replicate simple non-magical objects
Examples:
â Rope, dagger, key
â Magic items, complex machinery (unless DM allows later growth)
đ§ Optional Advanced Feature (Level Scaling)
If your DM allows progression:
Level 5+
You can partially mimic voices youâve heard
Level 10+
You can split off a tiny slime scout (1 HP, limited movement)
Level 15+
Your replication can include simple alchemical substances
⥠Weaknesses (Important for balance)
To keep this from becoming unstoppable:
đ„ Vulnerability to fire damage
âïž Cold effects may slow your movement
đ§ Desiccation (dry environments) can weaken you over time (DM flavor mechanic)
đ Roleplay Flavor
Youâre not just a blobâyouâre a learning entity:
You might imitate emotions before understanding them
You collect objects like memories
You might not fully understand identity yet
Youâre basically:
âWhat if curiosity became a creature?â
𧩠Character Hook Ideas
Youâre trying to understand why your god made you
You collect items to rebuild something you donât remember
You secretly fear being reabsorbed by your creator
Background: Mizurin was once a normal nineteen-year-old human whose life ended instantly when he was struck down without warning, his death abrupt and meaningless, yet instead of passing on his soul was seized and reshaped by a higher power, fractured and incomplete, and reborn into a new world not as a human but as something entirely differentâan experimental intelligent slime, part of a rare and unnatural evolution of a normally mindless species, created either by divine curiosity, accident, or design, but the process was flawed, leaving his memories shattered into fragments with only faint echoes remaining, including the distant name Musakii Tenkada which lingers in his being without context or meaning, and rather than being guided by gods or scholars he was left in the depths of a damp cavern where two simple, unintelligent slimes became his caretakers, creatures driven only by instinct yet displaying a quiet, natural kindness as they guided him in survival without understanding what he truly was, until their existence was cut short when a group of adventurers entered their home and destroyed them without hesitation, seeing only monsters instead of life, leaving Mizurin alone, newly aware, and fundamentally changed, now forced into a world he does not understand as something that does not truly belong, walking a path between creature and person, observer and participant, searching for identity, purpose, and the truth behind his unnatural existence Story: Mizurinâs awareness returned slowly and without comfort, there was no breath in his lungs nor a heartbeat in his chest, only a strange fluid sense of existence that lacked boundaries, his body shifting and reforming with each movement as he instinctively learned to glide across the cold stone of the cavern, unable to recall who he once was or even what he had been, only knowing that something was missing, something important, and in that emptiness he began to observe the world around him, the dripping water, the damp air, the faint light filtering through cracks above, and the two slimes that remained near him, creatures like himself yet fundamentally different as they lacked the awareness that was slowly awakening within him, they guided him without words, showing him how to survive through motion and repetition, keeping him close to moisture and away from harm, and though they could not think or speak there was something in their presence that stabilized him, something that made the emptiness feel less absolute, and as time passed Mizurin began to change, his thoughts becoming clearer, his movements more precise, his awareness expanding beyond instinct into something closer to understanding, he recognized patterns, cause and effect, differences between himself and the others, and though he could not name it he understood one truthâhe was not like them, yet he remained with them because they were the only connection he had in a world he did not understand, until that fragile existence was shattered when voices echoed through the cavern, foreign and loud, followed by footsteps and light that burned against the darkness, Mizurin stilled as something deep within him recognized danger, but the two slimes did not, they moved forward as they always had, without fear, without understanding, and in an instant they were destroyed, their forms torn apart by weapons and magic wielded without hesitation, their existence ended as casually as stepping on insects, and Mizurin watched everything, unable to act, unable to process, only observe as their bodies dispersed into nothing, and in that moment something within him fractured further, not into rage or grief as a human might feel, but into a deeper, colder awareness, he memorized everything, the movements, the voices, the lack of hesitation, storing it within himself as the adventurers left without a second thought, and when silence returned the cavern felt different, emptier, and for the first time Mizurin was truly alone, and in that silence something surfaced within him, a fragment of identity, a name that echoed faintly through his broken memory, Musakii Tenkada, but it meant nothing to him, held no anchor, no understanding, so he let it drift away and instead chose something new, something that belonged to who he was now, Mizurin, and with that he left the cavern behind, entering a world filled with unknowns, watching, learning, mimicking, trying to understand emotions that did not come naturally to him, sometimes helping, sometimes manipulating, sometimes simply observing, crossing paths with individuals who would shape his journey in different ways, a swordsman who treated him as a person rather than a monster, a mage who saw him as something to study, a rogue who sensed the danger beneath his calm exterior, and others who would come and go as he continued forward, not driven by revenge but by something more uncertain, a need to understand why he exists, what he is meant to become, and whether the fragments within him will one day form a complete identity, while deep within his being one quiet, unshakable truth remains, he will never again be as powerless as he was in that cave, and whatever this world expects of him, he will adapt, evolve, and become something it cannot ignore
Artificial Slime! Traits
Slime Species Traits: Mizurin is an intelligent red slime with a fluid, amorphous body that grants resistance to acid damage and reduces the effectiveness of piercing attacks against him, he can freely reshape his body to form limbs or tools giving him high precision and advantage on fine manipulation tasks, his body naturally shifts making heavy armor unusable and most equipment inconvenient, he can transform into a humanoid form under six feet for a limited time though it is not a perfect biological mimic, he can store items inside his body like a limited internal storage and analyze them over time to understand and replicate simple non-magical objects if materials are available, his body allows him to move through tight spaces and cling to surfaces granting a climbing speed, he can partially mimic voices and behaviors he has observed, and despite his strength he is vulnerable to fire, slowed by extreme cold, and weakened in dry environments
