Homebrew Bugbear Skeleton Species Details
Born from forbidden necromancy deep within the Obsidian Peaks, Bugbear Skeletons are strange mockeries of life and death. Most appear as towering skeletal bugbears with scraps of fur, dried flesh, and scorched leather still clinging to their frames. Empty eye sockets glow faintly with unnatural magic.
Unlike mindless undead, Bugbear Skeletons possess thought, emotion, memory fragments, and free will. Some remember pieces of their old lives. Others awaken with only instinct and the lingering pull of necromantic magic.
Many are feared as monsters.
Some become loyal companions.
Others wander the world seeking purpose after death.
Though created through necromancy, Bugbear Skeletons are not inherently evil. Their personalities vary wildly depending on their experiences, creator, and the strange magic animating their bones.
Some are quiet protectors.
Some are chaotic tricksters.
Some become terrifying warriors impossible to put down permanently.
