Homebrew Apolloean Species Details
Born from the fusion of sunlight and nature’s breath, the Apolloen are radiant beings who walk the line between mortal and elemental. Their bodies shimmer with a soft golden glow that brightens beneath the sun and dims beneath clouds, moonlight, or darkness.
Ancient druids claim the Apolloen were the first rays of dawn given form — guardians of growth, warmth, and balance. In sunlight, they feel truly alive; in darkness, they fade, but never falter. Many Apolloen dedicate their lives to preserving the natural world that gives them strength.
Apolloen typically appear humanoid but luminous. Their skin is often faintly golden, bronze, or sun-kissed, with veins that glow subtly like molten light. In bright sun, their eyes gleam like amber or polished gold. In darkness, they dim to ember-like glows.
Apolloean Traits
Apolloen are radiant nature-born warriors who thrive in sunlight. They work especially well as druids, rangers, clerics, paladins, or nature-themed melee characters. Their power grows stronger in bright environments, allowing them to deal radiant damage, sustain themselves through solar healing, and create bursts of sunlight in battle. Darkness does not cripple them — it simply tests their endurance until they can bring back the dawn.Lightborn
Your body emits a faint glow. You shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet.
You can suppress or reignite this glow as a bonus action.
Sun-Forged Vitality
You have advantage on saving throws against being blinded or charmed.
Once per short rest, when you start your turn in bright sunlight, you can regain hit points equal to your proficiency bonus.
Radiant Affinity
You have resistance to radiant damage.
When you deal radiant or fire damage with a spell you can add your proficiency bonus to one damage roll.
Additionally, your radiant and fire damage ignores resistance to those damage types.
Solar Surge
Once per long rest, while you are in direct sunlight, you can use a bonus action to surge with radiant energy for 1 minute.
For the duration:
- Your attacks deal an extra 1d4 radiant damage. (Level 5 1d8, Level 11 2d6, Level 17 2d8)
- You emit bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet.
Nature’s Radiance
You know the Produce Flame cantrip.
Starting at 3rd level, you can cast Flame Blade. You regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest.
Starting at 5th level, you can cast Daylight. You regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest.
Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Waning Light
When you are in dim light or darkness for more than 1 hour, your connection to solar energy begins to weaken.
While weakened in this way:
- Your speed is reduced by 5 feet.
- Your Solar Reservoir cannot gain charges.
- You have disadvantage on Wisdom/Perception checks that rely on sight.
These effects end after you spend at least 10 minutes in bright sunlight.
Ability Score Increase
Your Wisdom score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.
