Homebrew Camazotz Species Details

A winged people who originated on the Plane of Shadow, camazotz (aka batfolk) are nocturnal hunters who spend theirs nights soaring through the sky. Originally thre servants of the gods of night and death, they were created to be perfect hunters, tracking down lost souls and those marked for death by the gods. Their fangs and claws and fangs are effective against insubstantial creatures.

Resembling humanoid bats, the Camazotz stand about 5 feet tall, with large leathery wings and short fur in shades of brown, gray and black. Their faces resemble those of leaf-nosed bats. Their extraordinary senses make them perfect nocturnal hunters, and their magical nature eventually makes their fangs and claws effective against insubstantial creatures. 

 

 

Camazotz Traits

As a camazotz , you have the following racial traits.

Darkvision - 120 feet

As nocturnal creatures you see in the dark as well as in daylight to 120 feet.

Night Hunter - Blindsight 60 feet

Your extraordinary senses of smell and hearing give you blindsight to 60 feet.  When silenced you must rely on your sense of smell and your blindsight drops to only 15 feet.

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Flight

Because of your wings, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. You can’t use this flying speed if you’re wearing medium or heavy armor.

Natural Weapons

You have fangs and claws count as finesse weapons with which you are proficient, that you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, your claws do 1d4 + your Dexterity modifier slashing damage and your fangs do 1d4 + your Dexterity modifier piercing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

 

At 5th level, your claws and fangs act as magical weapons and are as effective against insubstantial opponents as they are physical creatures.
