Homebrew Brewfellow Species Details
Brewfellows are animated cauldrons created with witch's magic. They were once exclusively used for assisting witches around their dens, but have recently begun showing interest in the wide variety of hobbies the island has to offer. While brewfellows are usually metal cauldrons, islanders have seen many different bowl-shaped materials constructed into walking and talking brewfellows.
The First Brewfellow
About 30 years ago, In an effort to increase efficiency around their coven, a witch cast a spell to animate her cauldron to move on it's own, following her around their den. This became a trend among witches, with many legged cauldrons running around various covens around the island. One day, the cauldron looked outside at a group of children playing, and felt a yearning to play with them. Learning the ability to speak by flapping his lid, he asked its witch for a life outside of the den. Patting it on its lid, the witch agreed to set it off onto a life of adventure.
Since then, brewfellows can be seen all around the island running shops, flying kites, and slaying great beasts. However, many brewfellows are more than happy to spend their lives assisting their witches with a bubbling brew.
A Crafted Companion
Brewfellows first appeared in Obojima as witches needed to easily create potions while travelling the island. Common uses for the Brewfellows include potion creation, cooking meals, purifying water, hauling goods, grinding ingredients, protecting their creators, and even containing the Corruption.
A brewfellow's physical features may vary depending on the material they're made of, but they often have arms & legs resembling humanoids, as well as a lid that allows them to speak. They are often made of stone, metal, wood, pumpkins, glass, or even first-age technology. Even the most brittle of materials in their bodies become incredibly sturdy when these creatures are made, as the magic of the island reinforces them.
Brewing Affinity
Regardless of life path, all Brewfellows share a great interest in potion-making. It is rare too see an empty brewfellow, as when they are empty, they tend to be much less joyful.
