Homebrew Yugil Species Details
No one knows the true origin of the Yugil race. The mystery surrounding the Yugils origin is so widespread amongst scholars that some go as far as to suggest that Yugils can't be considered an actual race. some more credible theories about the Yugils origin include the idea that they came from a failed experiment committed by fiends, or that Yugils are an alternate evolution of the Larvae from Hades. While Yugils are not undead, they can't be considered to be alive. A Yugil is fully reliant on its own soul for sustenance, and its life is cut short because of this. While Yugils are not necessarily evil, the idea that they are harbingers of death and disease is widespread amongst everyday people. The fear surrounding Yugils stems largely from the fact that Yugils must consume the souls of the recently deceased in order to stay alive.

Age
Yugil are "somewhat" living beings that are commonly recognized as embodiments of decay. Yugil typically avoid interaction with large groups of people because of the many rumors surrounding their existence. The fear surrounding the Yugil primarily stems from the ability that Yugil have to extend their lifespan through the consumption of souls. Despite the fact that Yugil do have the ability to consume the souls of the recently deceased, a power that may seem to lend itself to the path of evil, this is not the case. Naturally, a Yugil will have a lifespan of just under one hundred years on average, and if it chooses to extend its own life its ability applies to both good and evil souls.
Alignment
More than anything else, Yugil are sad, though they find the process of learning enjoyable nothing could supersede the all-encompassing bleak depression that pervades their life. When everything seems meaningless it's hard to care about arbitrary concepts such as good or evil. Yugil are generally some aspect of neutral.
