Homebrew Bullywug (5.5e) Species Details

Fey embodiments of swamplands, bullywugs protect the murky wilds and consider themselves cosmically favored for that role. These human-size, toad- or frog-like creatures have close relationships with the creatures of the swamp.

Bullywug Traits

Creature Type: Fey
Size: Small (about 2–3 feet tall) or Medium (about 4-7 feet tall)
Speed: 30 feet., Swim 30 feet

As a Bullywug, you have these special traits.

Amphibious

You can breathe air and water. In addition, you have a swim speed equal to your walking speed.

Leap

Bullywugs have the ability to jump a distance equal to 10 times their Proficiency Bonus in feet, or half this for a high jump. In addition, they are not penalized for performing a standing jump and only take fall damage when falling from heights beyond their high jumping ability.

Adhesive Tongue

Grab: As a Bonus Action, you can grab a Small or smaller object from up to 15 feet away with your tongue and pull it towards you, so long as it isn’t being worn or carried.
Pull: As a Bonus Action, you can attempt to pull a creature within 15 feet of you, so long as the creature is at most one size larger than you. The creature must succeed a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Dexterity or Strength modifier) or else be pulled 5 feet towards you.

Dermal Toxicity

When a creature comes into contact with your skin you can chose to use your Reaction to secrete poison from your skin. The creature in contact with your skin must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus your Constitution modifier and Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature takes 1d6 Poison damage and becomes Poisoned. On a successful save, the creature takes no damage and avoids the condition. This damage increases by 1d6 when you reach character levels 5 (2d6), 11 (3d6), and 17 (4d6).

You can use Dermal Toxicity a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

In addition, your body is familiar with poison and you have Resistance to Poison damage.

Frogtalk

You know the Bullywug language. When you speak in it, you can understand and communicate simple concepts with frogs, toads, and other amphibians.
