Gorilla Adjacent

Beringei are Gorillas whom tend walk erect like a Human or sprint using their hands. Many claim that the Beringei were the creation of centuries of relations with Druids eventually creating their own societies capable of craftsmanship and language. They revile waste and see it as destructive as burning down one's home. Hunting and gathering they use all that they find and utilize it from baskets to leathering on the hilts of their weapons.  Beringei often hold honor and tradition as keys to their survival. They grew to their ritualistic ways, even if those rituals include no magic. This has been a staple for Beringei culture in the form of holidays, events, and war. Due to their devotion to the Troop, each group of Beringei will have very similar features, like the coloration of their fur or the length of the teeth. Each troop resides in much different ecosystems and do not interact, which is for the best. They are strongly built and thick skinned both physically and in temperment.

For the Troop

To any Beringei, the clan or as they call it the troop is the most important part of life. The Beringei will sacrifice everything for the sake of the troop. Each troop is very personal and operates in a familial manner. To put any in the troop in danger warrants expulsion and to cause intentional harm to a member of the troop warrants death. The head of the troop is called the Fedha and holds that position by being the strongest and most worthy. With a strong sense of honor and tradition, each member knows their place; but, occasionally one may challenge the Fedha for control of the group, in a battle called Mpinzani. The loser has a choice to concede control to the victor or to depart the troop. Any subsequent challenge is not permissible by the same challenger. After years of isolationism, many troops finally let outsiders whom they trusted engage in trade and even let them reside outside the camps. If an outsider were to harm a member of the troop, they did not offer the ritual death given to members of the troop, but resorted to ripping the outsiders limbs off and throwing them outside the camp. 

Brute Force

The Beringei are self-sufficient and value strength and power above all else. They seem to trust those whom they look down upon as weak and/or harmless. They do not trust outsiders whom may pose a threat to them, especially other Beringei Clans. There is nothing a Beringei cannot solve with their fists but sometimes they like to cause chaos with weapons native to their clan, created by their renowned blacksmiths. Beringei strive for mastery and do not accept any less from their apprentices. From this they respect the craftsmanship of other races whom can hold up to their high standards. 

Beringei Names

Beringei have personal names given at birth followed by their Troop name to signify allegiance. Names are most commonly descriptive, either physical or character traits, and are between 2-4 syllables followed by the masculine (me)/femminine (ke) identifier. Beringei do not usually name their yound until age 3

Beringei Traits

You gain these abilities based on your genetic abilities and lineage, for better or worse.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2.

Age

Beringei mature slightly earlier than humans, walking after 1 year and reaching adulthood by their mid teens. They do not live beyond a century.

Alignment

Beringei often live for honor and a code decided amongst the troop, leaning towards the lawful side. They can be, and are often, as good as any race, but if you meet the wrong troop they will be far worse than anything you could have stumbled upon. 

Size

Beringei range from 5 to over 6 feet tall fully erect and larger and bulkier than most races. Your size is medium. 

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. 

Natural Athlete

You have proficiency in the Athletics skill. 

Beat Chest

You can use your action to beat your chest and roar and smaller enemies within a 15-foot cone creatures must make a wisdom saving throw or drop what they are holding and become frightened. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. After you use your beat chest, you cannot use it again until after you complete a long rest. 

Brave

You have advantage on Saving throws against being frightened. 

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Berin. Berin is a language only used by Beringei to Beringei. They do not share it with outsiders and it is only used in the troop. Each troop has a different dialect and accent, so Beringei can automatically tell if another Beringei is from different troop.
