Homebrew Ashen One Species Details
Ashen One, be sure to bring more souls!
At some point in time, The Ashen Ones had attempted to link the fire. They were not powerful enough however, and were instead burnt to ash by the flames. Some time later, the Ashen Ones were awakened by the toll of the bells, signifying that the link of the fire was threatened. The Ashen Ones emerged from their graves and set out to leave their tomb. Their only purpose now is to fight and adventure.
A Single Purpose
With only one goal in their minds, Ashen Ones are driven by their need to fight. An individual can stand from 5 feet 5 inches to a little over 7 feet tall and weigh from 125 to 250 pounds. Their skin shades range from nearly black to very pale, and hair colors from black to blond (curly, kinky, or straight); males might sport facial hair that is sparse or thick. Ashen Ones are generally created at adulthood, and never age from that point on.
More Than One Way to Skin a Beast
The Unkindled are quite adaptable, despite their singular desire to fight and explore. It is hard to know the morals or personality of the Ashen Ones, because they are quiet by nature and don't give much attention to art or culture, but those who are willing to put up with the silent treatment are able to learn from some of the most graceful and deadly fighters known to the realms. They live fully in the present—making them well suited to the adventuring life—but are also known for their cunning strategies and resource management skills. Individually and as a group, Ashen Ones are terrifying to face as foes.
Obsessively Ambitious
Ashen Ones almost universally seek adventure. They seek to earn glory in the eyes of their fellows by amassing power, wealth, and fame. However, when they are not in a fight, they have an almost fanatical devotion to whatever god they may follow.
Unkindled Names
Coming from humanity, the Ashen Ones tend to have a wide variety of names. While many take their human names from before, it is also common for them to give themselves new names.
Male Names. Alferic, Brifard, Eadwig, Gudram, Hardred, Inwaer, Ordmaer, Theodgar
Female Names. Aedilburh, Aelfrun, Birghiva, Burchwen, Eanswyth, Ethelflaed, Mildrith, Saegyth, Wendreda, Wulfwyn
Titles. Prince/Princess of Lies, Patriarch/Matriarch of Flame, Eminence of Sorrow, Dark Tribune, Aged Master, King/Queen of Crows, Radiant Sage
Ashen One Traits
Although originally humans, the Ashen Ones gain much more power in death.Ability Score Increase
Your Strength score increases by 2, your Dexterity score increases by 2, but your Charisma score decreases by 2.
Age
Being undead, the Unkindled do not age, leading some to be thousands of years old without ever changing.
Alignment
The Ashen Ones tend towards neutral alignments, but it is possible for them to be any alignment.
Size
Ashen Ones, like humans, vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 foot 5 inches to well over 7 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Estus Flask
Like all Unkindled, you have the strange ability to conjure healing potions whenever you rest. Twice per long rest, you may cast Cure Wounds as a bonus action by drinking from an estus flask.
Rebirth
As you grow stronger, your connection to the Firelink allows you to alter your body and mind. While long resting, you may choose to be reborn. If you choose this, you are allowed to choose any class and/or subclass and become it.
Additionally, if you used the Point Buy or Standard Array to determine your ability scores, you may choose brand new ability scores using the same method as before.
You may only do this a number of times equal to your character level divided by 4 within your lifetime. There is no way to restore these charges except by a Wish spell.

You can speak, read, and write Common.
