Homebrew (Male)Naga/(Female)Lamia Melusine Species Details

Naga age like Humans in their early years, they mature at the age of 25, after 25 they age like Elves, slowly and can live for 800 years .

Melusine is a sub-species of the Naga, a humanoid snake creature that stands about as tall as the average person but is considered large with they're 5 foot tail that they have to keep coiled at all times or they could trip both ally and enemy alike, unless they know the tail is there before hand, the tail is considered rough terrain and needs a save of 10 plus Dex modifier to beat in order to not end up prone on the ground, only other naga or other creatures that slither are immune to this affect.

Melusine are the best swimmers of all nagas and are able to breath under water through their scales, in extreme heat they need a constant supply of water in order to move around, in extreme cold they can move more freely than most in deep snow and aren't hindered by freezing temps as long as they are dry.

Melusine are also born with vestigial wings, as they keep them dry, they can hover with them for about 20 mins 40 feet off the ground, they could also use it to slow their decent from a fall and take half fall damage, if they are constricting someone with their tails, they can use their wings to smother the face of the person, but be careful as the wings are very fragile and could break if the person or some else comes over and tries to rip the wings off the face of the person.

Nagas are known for constricting both their prey and enemies alike, it is consider a grapple and deals 1d6 + Strength Mod and remains grappled until either the naga lets them go or the person is able to beat the Strength saving throw, if the wings are added, they have 10 turns until they pass out and are unable to get free.

Because Melusine spend most of they're time in deep water, they have a much better natural defense than other nagas, 13 + Dex Mod + Con Mod.

Melusine are the only other species of Naga that have a venomous bite that deals an initial damage being 1d4 plus strength mod and then the person being bit needs to make a Con save of 13 plus Con Mod or be poisoned for the next 10 turns and take 1d8 of poison damage that increases with level, level 4 2d8, 8 4d8, 12 6d8, 16 8d8, 20 10d8, if they make the save, they still take the bite damage and half as much as poison damage with the bite, if immune, only take bite damage.

(Male)Naga/(Female)Lamia Melusine Traits

Naga

Dark Vision

Melusine spend much of they're time hunting for prey underwater, either large or small fish, often times needing to dive deep and because of this, they developed exceptional dark vision for deep water, late night hunts, and any cave hunting they may need to do if food was hard to get.

Ability score increase (Dex)

At firs, living that deep in the ocean was very cold and harsh on the melusine bodies, but as time went on, they grew accustomed to it, even found that what used to hurt them no longer did and even used skin that would shed off of other nagas or scales as weapons because of tough and sharp the scales were.

Ability score increase (Wisdom)`

They would often have multiple traps set up around reefs and sometimes by ocean vents, sometimes even farming the fish, to keep food coming for they're tribes, the times they would set up hunting parties for bigger prey, like whales, sharks and anything else of that size, would be for someone returning to the village after a long time, to welcome them back and show how much they were missed, other times might be when a need tribe leader is made or the tribe leader is getting married.

Venmous bite

When it came to hunting bigger prey, the Melusine ancenstors had a hard time holding onto weapons, often relaying on a bite to finish off a prey, from multable naga to finish one, over time, those who survived, evolved to bite them either once or twice and wait for the poison to kill the prey.

Swimming

Using a mix of their arms and tails, Melusine are able to swim incredibly fast, a top speed of 40 feet, in order not damage they're wings in the ocean depths, they have special scales that lift up and tuck under those scales.

Wings

Despite being able to hunt most things in forests and oceans, Melusine often felt safest high in trees, make huts that lead to one another, unlike other Nagas who live underground.

Natural armor

After years of swimming in the ocean depths, Melusine gained incredibly tough scale that was often at times confused for armor by other creatures, after a while, the Melusine soon began to collect shedded scales and even skins to create shields, weapons and other items.

Natural weapon

If the prey is to big, they are unable to, just like any of the other nagas, whats different, is with their vestigial wings, they can also smother their prey.
