Homebrew Bombycidae Species Details

The origins of this race are largely unknown, though many suspect that they were the true origins of myths relating to things like The Mothman. This of course is likely more coincidence and this was the result of either a god creating a new race, or someone on the material plane with too much time, magic, and science on their hands not asking if they should instead of if they can. 

This species boasts magnificent wings, limited telepathic powers, and powerful vision at night. Not without its drawbacks, these creatures are far from normal.

Height and Weight range: 4'8" - 5'6" and 67 - 137lbs

Bombycidae Traits

The race is capable of flight in light armor and naturally possess limited telepathy channeled through their antennae. Should they lose their antennae, they lose the ability to communicate in this way without regeneration through magic or other means of the lost appendage.  Fixation on light, when in darker environments the well known traits of moths reigns supreme. While this race has limited darkvision any light sources in a dark setting will draw their attention. Most battle the urge to touch light sources in this setting making torches and other flames in a dark room rather hazardous to an under disciplined one of this race. Their physical composition also makes them particularly vulnerable to flames and other sources of ignition.

Fluffy Wings

Your fluffy insect wings can sustain yourself in flight when wearing light or no armor. 

Interesting Antennae

Using the antennae on your head you are able to communicate 2 ways telepathically to another creature that you link too psychically as a bonus action. If your Antennae are damaged you can only send messages 1 way, if your antennae are ever cut, burned, or otherwise removed you will no longer be able to use this ability until they are resorted with regeneration or similar restorative effects. The range on this increases at character level 5, level 11, and level 17.

This ability is likely similar to other bug like species due to similar struggles to use verbal languages. While not incapable of learning and even speaking languages, various articulations and communication boundaries persist for verbal communication.

Those Big Bug Eyes

Your big buggy eyes provide darkvision when in low light or darkness, however you are not without problems. While you do not get disadvantage during daylight, you are however drawn to light sources when in the dark.

You know Thri-Kreen and can speak it easily, all other verbal languages can be spoken but are done so with some difficulty.
