Homebrew Caprini Species Details

Once prosperous on their home island, they were long ago conquered by their avian masters. Their species was whittled down to a small number of herds, domesticated into the service of their overlords. They have a naturally docile nature, disinclined to conflict, and were conditioned over centuries to accept their lot in life. Most would readily offer their lives to appease the Great Masters if it would spare their herd additional hardship.

Then came the revolution. The Flame Mistress, a divine being sent from heaven, alongside her less memorable companions, set all the peoples of Perduv free and taught them new ways of thinking. The old, cruel Great Masters were put to sword and fire under Her glorious new order, and the new Great Masters have been kind, if reluctant benefactors. Allowing them freedom of movement across their homeland, the fruits of their own labor, and the promise of their lives and freedom, provided they follow the holy path laid out by the Flame Mistress.

Alongside new Masters, the Caprini people have gained new friends in the fairy tribe who came to them on the Mistress' vessel. These new neighbors have already proven invaluable allies, teaching them new skills in magic and agriculture.

Caprini are known to be kind and generous to a fault. Few of their kind would not give the clothes off their back to a stranger in need. With freedom, however, comes the opportunity to grow and change. Some have taken up with the new Church to follow in the revolutionary footsteps of the Mistress, to bring Her teachings of equality and freedom to all (or else). Others have set off to explore the mountains of Perduv, hoping to discover their own history, buried under centuries of occupation by the Great Masters. Most, however, continue their old way of life, surviving as a community, tending to their Great Tree, and caring for one another as they always have.
