Homebrew Cinerati Species Details
The Filii Cineris, or Cinerati as scholars call them, are an enigmatic species. The name Filii Cineris was made by the Goddess Fiaal herself, while the more recent "Cinerati" is a term that was made up by Belladorian scholars late in the Tranquility Era. Most commonly, however, these people are referred to as Ashkin. One should note that this term (Ashkin) has its origins as a slur, but has largely been adopted as an easy descriptor.
As for what they look like, the physical build of this species is generally light and efficient. Their wiry frames are loosely cloaked in a deep gray skin; said skin has milk white speckles dripped across it in random patterns. Their hair is a deep jet black. This is what the term "Ashkin" refers to the fact that they literally resemble ash. At adulthood they nearly universally stand at six feet. Their pupils are large and black, often taking up all of the visible eye. Their age is commonly made apparent by light to dark grey stripes stretching across their sides; typically, they get two to three every year of life.
Their origins are widely known, and they are one of the newer species in Belmile. They were made when Fiaal expunged all Fiends from her realm. For a time she was lonely, and she had no reason to make her perfection if to share it with nothing; so in her wisdom she reached her hands into the slate, and begged it to come alive. Within one month this species started to appear within her realm.
As for the specifics of where they came from, their common ancestry site is the Slatelands of Emburas. While that is as generic as saying the grasslands of the planes, there is not much known about the exact location. The general realm, however, offers an easy insight into what makes them special. They are adapted to extreme temperature changes, to deal with the constant volcanoes and extreme cold of the empty slatelands. Moreover, they best thrive on long stretches of empty flat rock, with little to nothing else on it.
As for who they are, like all races, their society and culture is nearly entirely dependent on where they are, but most in Emburas share similar traits. They are often self-sufficient loners. This is likely because in their entire lives they have a near zero chance to ever meet another thinking thing.
Aside from that, they do have one shared psychological trait. They have extremely stunted gregariousness. They will not naturally desire connection or others unless they have experienced large groups of others. This is likely an inbuilt alchemy made from their often totally isolated existences, but one found in a city is as social as any other creature.
These are medium creatures with a 30-ft walking speed.
In a perfect world, these creatures can live forever. In Belmile they live to 30. They fully mature at age 22.
Racial Feature
Dual Immunity: This species has lived in one of the harshest climates of any realm or plane. They commonly walk in near freezing temperatures, only to arrive at ever-flowing volcanoes. Because of such, they are immune to fire and cold damage; temperature changes have no effect on them whatsoever.
